Jobs this program prepares you for

The Rehabilitation Therapy SkillBridge Internship supports multiple clinical tracks within the Sentara Therapy Centers. Interns are assigned to a specific track based on their military experience, scope of practice, and applicable civilian licensure or licensure eligibility. All interns function as part of an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team and provide patient‑centered care under the supervision of licensed clinicians. Here are the Clinical Tracks that we are able to offer internships under: Physical Therapist (PT): Evaluate, plan, and deliver rehabilitative care to improve functional mobility, reduce pain, and address disabling conditions. Provide patient and caregiver education and oversee care delivered by assigned team members. Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA): Provide physical therapy treatments under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. Assist with treatment implementation, routine interventions, and documentation in accordance with established plans of care. Occupational Therapist/Occupational Therapy (OT): Evaluate and provide rehabilitative interventions to improve functional performance, restore daily living and vocational skills, and promote patient independence. Educate patients and caregivers on adaptive strategies and recovery. Speech‑Language Pathologist/Speech Therapist (SLP): Evaluate and treat speech, language, voice, swallowing, and fluency disorders. Provide age‑appropriate education to patients and caregivers and oversee assigned aspects of care delivery. Clinical Exercise Specialist: Deliver supervised exercise therapy and health education to patients under the direction of a licensed clinician, ensuring safe, effective, and professional care environments.
