About the program

The SkillBridge intern will train as a Mechanical Engineer within Resonant Sciences (RS), reporting to a designated Resonant Sciences supervisor, with the primary goal of exposing the intern to industry. A secondary goal is to achieve a cross-organizational understanding of how industry works. The intern will be assigned special projects as needed.

Jobs this program prepares you for

The intern program will focus on design, analysis and manufacture of composite structures and composite apertures for aerospace applications.• The intern will be able to manufacture aerospace grade composite parts which may include wet layup, prepreg layup, oven/autoclave cure, automated ply cutting.• The intern will learn best practices when processing high performance RF materials to include honeycomb core, polyetherimide (PEI) foam, cyanate ester/quartz laminates, syntactic foam, ceramics.• Where possible, the intern will be able to design composite parts using CAD tools such as Catia. This may include ply splicing, drape analysis, flattening, nesting, contoured-surface laser projection.• Where possible, the intern will learn and understand basic principles of composite testing/analysis, to include laminate tailoring (quasi-iso, balanced laminates, etc) material system flight qualification test plans, Finite Element Modeling, etc.• The intern will have exposure to world-class mentors and will experience many disciplines of engineering. This experience will provide the intern with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed as an engineer in the civilian career path.• RS will benefit from the military and experiential background of the SkillBridge intern and considers the SkillBridge internship an overall positive experience.Resonant Sciences3975 Research Blvd, Dayton Ohio 45430Assumptions/RestrictionsSkillBridge interns are not authorized to represent RS to DoD or Government customerswhile participating in the DoD SkillBridge Program Internship.
