Eligibility & prerequisites
Successful candidates are self-motivated individuals who enjoy hands-on technical work, problem solving, teamwork, and continuous learning. Candidates should possess strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to follow technical procedures while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and quality. The ability to adapt to changing work environments, travel extensively, work outdoors when required, and support field operations is important for long-term success in this role. Technical experience gained through military service, maintenance operations, engineering support, aviation, electronics, communications systems, industrial operations, logistics, utilities, or other technical fields is highly desirable. Candidates should have a genuine interest in developing a long-term career in pipeline inspection, field operations, and critical infrastructure integrity management.
Veterans often excel in this role because of their experience working in technical environments, following procedures, maintaining equipment, prioritizing safety, solving problems, and operating as part of a team. Military experience in aircraft maintenance, avionics, electronics maintenance, communications systems, engineering support, power generation, heavy equipment maintenance, logistics, utilities operations, quality assurance, and other technical specialties translates well to this position. Prior pipeline inspection experience is not required. Cypress provides a structured 26-week training program designed to develop the technical knowledge and field skills necessary to become a successful Pipeline Inspection Technician. What makes this opportunity unique is the combination of extensive travel throughout the United States, occasional international travel opportunities, hands-on work with advanced inspection technology, direct interaction with experienced engineers, field technicians, and operations personnel, and exposure to critical municipal water and energy infrastructure projects throughout North America. Successful participants who demonstrate technical competency, professionalism, and a commitment to safety may be considered for future opportunities with Cypress based on performance and business needs. Career progression opportunities may include Shop Technician, Level I Field Technician, Level II Field Technician, Level III Field Technician, Pipeline Integrity Technician, and Field Operations Specialist positions.
